At the beginning of 19th century the study of fossils began. Before it began people did not believe that fossils ones lived.
The most famous fossils of all are the dinosaurs. Now of course there are no dinosaurs. They all died millions of years before people lived in the world. Scientists still do not know why they died. Many scientists believe that they died after a change of climate. The earth got cold and many plants and animals died. The British scientists invented the word dinosaur 150 years ago.
They used 2 Greek words deinos and sauros meaning terrible lizards. Some dinosaurs could run rapidly on two legs others had horns protect them.
Some of them ate plants and some of the m ate meet. And some of them stood up to 7 meters high.
